Ukatis

Ukatis, a planet located in the Inner Rim, was part of the Ukatis system. During the system's blockade around 3996 BBY, Nayama, the Ukatis enforcer, downed the starship piloted by Jedi Padawan and smuggler Jolee Bindo, causing it to crash on Ukatis. Subsequently, Nayama had Bindo incarcerated in a local prison, from which he was later rescued. Following this, the Padawan abducted Nayama, but their relationship evolved, leading them to marry and ultimately depart from Ukatis.

Description

Ukatis was a terrestrial planet situated within the Ukatis system, which formed a component of the Western Reaches area within the Inner Rim.

History

By 3959 BBY, Ukatis was situated in the area widely explored by the Galactic Republic.

Sometime prior to 3996 BBY, the ruler of the Ukatis system mandated a blockade of the system to suppress its inhabitants. Eventually, Jolee Bindo, a Jedi Padawan, acquired a starship and a smuggling partner, and began to smuggle food and other provisions through the blockade. On one occasion, Nayama, the Ukatis enforcer, aboard a Ukatish frigate, shot down Bindo's ship, forcing it to crash on Ukatis.

The enforcer then took the Padawan to the local capital, where he was imprisoned, and she subsequently foiled three of his attempts to escape. Eventually, Bindo was rescued from the prison and proceeded to kidnap Nayama. Sometime after this, they fell in love and got married; Bindo trained Nayama in the ways of the Jedi, and the pair eventually left the planet. By 3959 BBY, Ukatis was located within the "civilized galaxy," a region extensively explored by the Galactic Republic.

In 3956 BBY, Bindo recounted the story of his crash landing on Ukatis to Revan, a Jedi in training.

Locations

A city featuring a prison was located on Ukatis and served as its capital.

Behind the scenes

Ukatis first appeared in the 2003 Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic video game developed by BioWare. The planet is mentioned in an optional conversation between the player character, Revan, and Jolee Bindo. This article assumes that the game was completed in its entirety and that the conversation took place as described. The 2009 book The Essential Atlas placed the Ukatis system, and consequently Ukatis itself, in grid square L-15.
