Ukatis system

The Ukatis system, situated within the Inner Rim, was the home system of the planet Ukatis. Around 3996 BBY, the ruler of this system initiated a blockade, leading to widespread starvation among its population. Subsequently, Jedi apprentice Jolee Bindo, along with an associate, began to smuggle sustenance and necessities past the blockade. However, Nayama, an enforcer from Ukatis, eventually shot down Bindo's vessel, resulting in the Jedi's detainment in a penal institution on Ukatis. Following his eventual escape from imprisonment, both he and Nayama ultimately departed from the Ukatis system.

Description

The Ukatis system resided within the Western Reaches region of the Inner Rim. The planet Ukatis, a terrestrial world, was located there.

History

By 3959 BBY, the Ukatis system was located in the area that the Galactic Republic had largely charted.

Sometime prior to 3996 BBY, the monarch of the Ukatis system commanded a blockade to oppress the local populace, who consequently suffered from starvation. The Galactic Republic's Senate attempted to mediate a peaceful resolution, but these efforts proved fruitless. Eventually, Jolee Bindo, a Jedi Padawan, after acquiring a starship and a partner, started smuggling provisions and other goods through the blockade. Using his flying skills and the Force, Bindo and his partner successfully overcame challenging situations against overwhelming odds, never being apprehended in their endeavors.

However, on one occasion, Nayama, an Ukatis enforcer operating a lone Ukatish warship, shot down Bindo's ship, forcing a crash landing on Ukatis. The enforcer then escorted the Padawan to the local capital city, where he was jailed. Eventually, Bindo escaped from the prison and abducted Nayama. Subsequently, the two fell in love and married, eventually leaving the Ukatis system. By 3959 BBY, the system was within the "civilized galaxy," the area widely mapped by the Republic.

In 3956 BBY, Bindo recounted his experiences in the Ukatis system to the Jedi trainee Revan.

Inhabitants

A monarchy led by a king governed the Ukatis system. Its population numbered at least several million individuals.

Behind the scenes

The Ukatis system was first featured in the 2003 Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic video game by BioWare. The player character, Revan, can mention the star system in an optional conversation with Jolee Bindo. This article assumes full game completion and that the conversation occurred as described. The Essential Atlas, a 2009 reference book, placed the system in grid square L-15.
