Once Rookie One verified the existence of probe droids, the Rebels were compelled to evacuate.

Behind the scenes

Carlist Rieekan and Romas Navander in Star Wars: Episode V The Empire Strikes Back

The commander at Gamma Base appeared in Star Wars: Rebel Assault, a video game by LucasArts released in 1993. Tony Pope provided his voice. The game portrays a conflict between the Empire and the Rebellion on Hoth, set three years before the Battle of Hoth depicted in Star Wars: Episode V The Empire Strikes Back. For the game's cut-scenes, the production team incorporated footage from the original trilogy, superimposing the faces of the game's production team over the actors. The Gamma Base communications officer scene was sourced from The Empire Strikes Back, with associate producer Wayne Cline replacing Lieutenant Romas Navander.
