Unidentified Gamorrean fighter 1

A Gamorrean combatant participated in a fight within a warehouse district arena against another Gamorrean around 9 ABY. Gor Koresh placed a wager on the other Gamorrean's victory within the next minute. Subsequently, Koresh rose and fatally shot the Gamorrean.

Behind the scenes

This Gamorrean combatant initially surfaced in the official promotional trailer for the second season of The Mandalorian, a Disney+ series created by Jon Favreau. This trailer was released on YouTube on September 15, 2020. Later, the fighter was featured in the Season Two premiere of The Mandalorian, "Chapter 9: The Marshal," which Favreau directed and which debuted on Disney+ on October 30, 2020. Barry Hanley portrayed the Gamorrean, credited as a stunt performer. He later confirmed, via Instagram, his and fellow stunt performer Matthew Blake Shadden's involvement as the two combatants in the episode.

This particular Gamorrean was designed to appear more slender compared to those seen in Jabba's Palace during Star Wars: Episode VI Return of the Jedi. The prop team, under the leadership of property master Josh Roth, constructed the fighters' axes from hollow aluminum and incorporated an electrical mechanism to generate sparks upon impact. Favreau envisioned the Gamorrean fight to emulate a Muay Thai match, aiming to infuse the episode's atmosphere with a gangster movie vibe, contrasting with other themes explored in The Mandalorian. Stunt coordinator Ryan Watson oversaw the fight choreography, striving to showcase a powerful yet awkward style that aligns with other combat forms within the Star Wars universe.
