A scanning technician was assigned to the Relentless, which was an Imperial I-class Star Destroyer under the command of Admiral Kassius Konstantine, during the year 4 BBY. His job was to manage the scanners used by the Star Destroyer to examine approaching vessels. He alerted the Admiral to the fact that a VCX-100 light freighter was undergoing a scan and that something seemed unusual about it. The ship's identification was initially the Tontine, with authorization for travel between Boz Pity and Lothal. After the ship was discovered to be the rebel starship Ghost because its signature modulator had been damaged, the technician notified Konstantine, who then dispatched TIE fighters to pursue it.
