Unidentified Neimoidian captain

A Neimoidian male commanded a Confederate Munificent-class star frigate as its captain. This vessel was on patrol duty close to the planet of Florrum, located in the Outer Rim Territories, during the era of the Clone Wars. Around 21 BBY, after bounty hunter Cad Bane orchestrated the rescue of Republic prisoner Ziro the Hutt from the galactic capital of Coruscant, Shahan Alama, Bane's Weequay accomplice, piloted a Flarestar-class shuttle towards Florrum in an attempt to evade the Republic forces. The Neimoidian captain gave the order for his frigate to open fire on Alama's vessel. Shortly after, he deployed squadrons of droid starfighters to engage a Republic LAAT/i gunship that had been detected in the vicinity.

Biography

During the Clone Wars, a male Neimoidian held the rank of captain aboard a Munificent-class star frigate, a vessel within the Navy of the Confederacy of Independent Systems. In the time frame around 21 BBY, following the rescue of the Hutt crime lord Ziro Desilijic Tiure from the Republic Judiciary Central Detention Center on Coruscant by a group of bounty hunters led by Duros mercenary Cad Bane, the Neimoidian was on patrol. His frigate was assigned to a sector in the Outer Rim Territories that included the planet Florrum, a world known as a base for Weequay pirates.

A battle droid lieutenant informed the Neimoidian captain about an approaching Flarestar-class shuttle that was unidentified. The Weequay Shahan Alama, who was piloting the shuttle, had been part of the group that freed Ziro. Despite the initial report about the unidentified vessel being unhelpful, the Neimoidian had a vague recollection of the craft's importance. He instructed the lieutenant to retrieve the threat assessment files for their current sector. After reviewing the records concerning Count Dooku's, a Separatist leader, brief period of captivity by the local Weequay pirates, the Neimoidian concluded that Dooku would seek retribution against the pirates. Consequently, he ordered the droids to fire upon Alama's ship.

In the vicinity, a Republic Acclamator-class assault ship was conducting a scouting mission under the command of Twi'lek Jedi General Aayla Secura and Clone Commander CC-5052, known as "Bly." Secura, observing the Separatist frigate's engagement with the Weequay vessel via hologram, instructed Bly to perform a quick reconnaissance. She directed the commander to deploy a squad of LAAT/i gunships to assess the situation, with orders to only engage if attacked. The Separatist frigate detected one of the Republic gunships, and the droid lieutenant informed the Neimoidian on the frigate's bridge. The captain then ordered squadrons of Vulture droids, Hyena bombers, and Single Trooper Aerial Platforms to attack the Republic craft. He remarked that since all deployed forces were droids, he would not have to share the credit for the anticipated success. However, Bly's gunship neutralized most, if not all, of the dispatched droids. Furthermore, the Republic craft managed to shoot down Alama's ship, denying the Neimoidian captain his perceived double victory.

Personality and traits

The Neimoidian, distinguished by his purple robes and matching miter, commanded a Separatist frigate on patrol in the Outer Rim. He firmly believed that a capable Neimoidian commander created their own opportunities. Displaying a dismissive attitude towards the droids under his command, the captain frequently found fault with his battle droid lieutenant's reports. He was unwilling to share the glory he anticipated from successfully dealing with both the Weequay pirates—who had previously held Confederate Head of State Count Dooku—and the Republic forces conducting reconnaissance in the area. The Neimoidian possessed green skin and red eyes.

Behind the scenes

The Neimoidian captain made his debut as an unnamed character in The Clone Wars: Hunting the Hunters (Part I), an issue of the online The Clone Wars comic series. This comic's narrative takes place between seasons one and two of the Star Wars: The Clone Wars television show.
