This individual was stationed on the Carrion Spike, the private starship of Governor Wilhuff Tarkin, in 14 BBY, as they traveled from [Sentinel Base](/article/sentinel_base], an Imperial building site, to the planet of Coruscant. After the ship jumped to hyperspace, Tarkin suddenly inspected the crew and determined that Ensign Baz was consuming spice. The Governor then instructed the officer to detain Baz in his living space for the rest of the journey and to get in touch with Commander Cassel at Sentinel Base, alerting him to the issue of spice usage at the base, and that an inspection was needed to seize the illegal substance. He was wearing a typical Imperial uniform.
James Luceno wrote a novel called Tarkin, which was released in 2014, where the officer made his debut, though his name was not given.
