An RX-series pilot droid operated a GX1 short hauler for a number of years preceding the Battle of Yavin. While performing a typical transport to the world of Garel, his spacecraft was commandeered by members of the rebel group known as the Spectres. After the rebels found themselves trapped by an Imperial light cruiser, the pilot droid was manipulated into activating his transport. Moments afterwards, his transport was obliterated by explosives that the rebels had pre-set onboard before fleeing onto their ally Ketsu Onyo's vessel, the Shadow Caster. The droid pilot was vaporized in this explosion, which facilitated the Spectres' escape.
This RX-series pilot droid piloted a GX1 short hauler during the time of the Age of the Empire. During a standard voyage to the Garel City Spaceport, he was transporting the GNK-series power droid EG-86, who carried classified intelligence intended for the rebellion. EG-86 was collected by several members of the Ghost rebel cell: Sabine Wren, the astromech droid Chopper, and Ezra Bridger. However, the rebels were swiftly attacked by the bounty hunter Ketsu Onyo along with a stormtrooper squad.
As the conflict unfolded, the rebels boarded the pilot droid's hauler. Chopper deactivated the droid after it protested the hijacking. Subsequently, the rebels escaped into space, but they were engaged by Ketsu's starship, the Shadow Caster, and took considerable damage. The arrival of an Imperial Arquitens-class light cruiser compelled the remaining rebels and Ketsu to cooperate. After equipping the shuttle with explosives, Sabine reactivated the pilot droid and ordered it to initiate an emergency sequence. The droid began powering the ship while Sabine and her companions detached the Shadow Caster from the shuttle and departed into space. Shortly after, the pilot droid and his shuttle were destroyed by the explosives, which also inflicted substantial damage on the Imperial light cruiser.
Stephen Stanton provided the voice for the RX-series pilot droid in the Star Wars Rebels episode "Blood Sisters."
