A star, situated within the Inner Rim Territories, underwent an explosive event centuries before the year 40 BBY. This event led to the creation of the Byrnum Maw nebula, and also caused disturbances in the hyperspace routes throughout the adjacent area of space, notably impacting routes headed towards the Pijal system. As time progressed, the genesis of the nebula had a significant negative impact on the financial well-being of various worlds that were subsequently isolated from hyperspace travel. In the year 40 BBY, Republic Supreme Chancellor Kirames Kaj described the nebula's origins, tracing it back to the star's destruction, to Jedi Master Qui-Gon Jinn and his Padawan, Obi-Wan Kenobi, as he informed them about their impending mission to the planet Pijal.
The aforementioned star was referenced within Master & Apprentice, a novel penned by Claudia Gray and released in 2019.
