During the period between 39 BBY and 36 BBY, inhabitants of the Wookiee species engineered a specialized medical droid on the moon known as Alaris Prime. This creation was specifically intended to aid Attichitcuk, a Wookiee Chieftain who had suffered severe blaster wounds inflicted by B1-series battle droids serving the Trade Federation. Accompanied by a Wookiee team led by his offspring, Chewbacca, the droid journeyed to Attichitcuk. There, it administered sufficient care to successfully save the Chieftain's life.
While the Wookiee species was in the process of colonization of the moon Alaris Prime, specifically between the years of 39 BBY and 36 BBY, certain Wookiees, under the direction of Jedi Master Qui-Gon Jinn (who was tasked with overseeing the colonization), fabricated a medical droid. The droid was assembled by the Wookiees within a base's command center, with the express goal of providing treatment to Wookiee Chieftain Attichitcuk, who was the leader of the colonists. Shot and left in critical condition by B1-series battle droids belonging to the Trade Federation, a galactic organization aiming to unlawfully seize Alaris Prime, Attichitcuk was in dire need of assistance. Once its construction was complete, the droid, accompanied by a group of Wookiee bowcaster troopers headed by Chewbacca, Attichitcuk's son, ventured into the forest to rescue the Wookiee leader. After engaging and defeating several battle droids along their path, the Wookiees located Attichitcuk. The medical droid then administered sufficient treatment to enable him to walk back to the base. Subsequently, the medical droid and the Wookiee troopers returned to the base, overcoming further battle droids along the way, including a trio of droidekas that attacked them at the settlement. Attichitcuk, still in need of recovery from his injuries, was unable to actively participate in the colonization efforts for an extended time.
This class one droid belonged to a medical droid model series that was created by the Wookiees. It used a set of wheels for mobility, and it was equipped with a pair of mechanical arms. The medical droid possessed the necessary skills to restore Attichitcuk to a functional state after he sustained critical injuries from blasterfire.
The Wookiee medical droid was initially referenced in Star Wars: Galactic Battlegrounds: Prima's Official Strategy Guide by Steven L. Kent, which was released on November 7, 2001. Later, it appeared in the LucasArts video game Star Wars: Galactic Battlegrounds, which was released on November 11, 2001. The droid is featured in the fourth level of the Wookiee tutorial campaign, titled "Researching Technology." It is constructed at the player's command center at the cost of thirty-five food units. While the player has the option to create multiple medical droids, an image depicting Attichitcuk's rescue shows only a single droid, which canonically establishes that the Wookiees constructed only one medical droid.
