Uquine, a tranquil planet, was situated within the Colonies region of the galaxy. It was on this world that the agricultural scientist Tepha Leonis experienced childbirth, bringing her second offspring, Zare Leonis, into the world. However, the Leonis family did not remain there, instead taking up residence in various locations, including the space station known as Hosk Station and the planet Lothal. Uquine also served as the original homeworld for the rebel pilot Col Takbright. Before his departure from Uquine, Takbright observed with growing unease the expansion of the Galactic Empire across the galaxy, as it consumed planets in its relentless pursuit of ore and killing those who dared to resist. Realizing that he could no longer passively endure the situation on his homeworld, he left Uquine equipped with credits, a duffel bag, and a solemn pledge to seek retribution for the injustices inflicted by the Empire.
The initial conception of Uquine occurred during the creation of the Essential Atlas, a reference book pertaining to Star Wars Legends. This book was authored by Jason Fry and Daniel Wallace and published in 2009. Later, in 2015, Fry integrated the planet into canon by mentioning it within his novel, Servants of the Empire: Rebel in the Ranks.
According to Ultimate Star Wars, New Edition, Zare Leonis's origins trace back to a Core World. However, within Servants of the Empire: Rebel in the Ranks, Leonis himself identifies Uquine as being located within the Colonies.
