Re: Real-world

Hello Exar, just so you know, Wookieepedia tends to discourage the creation of lists. It might not be wise to create yet another one. However, should you feel it is truly necessary, you could initiate a discussion thread in the SH to gather feedback from other users. Short stories

The Living Force articles that you deleted from the short stories list were indeed short stories. It would be helpful if you could actually examine one and then restore them. NaruHina Talk 22:46, November 28, 2012 (UTC)

Tales anthologies changes to timeline of media

Please refrain from removing valid content from the Timeline of media. I have noticed your consistent removal of Tales anthology content that hasn't been published elsewhere, but that is not the intention of the Timeline of media. This is a dedicated space for placing every story in its correct relative position within the established canon. Each story within those anthologies possesses a unique timeline placement, distinct from the anthology as a whole. For instance, One Last Night in the Mos Eisley Cantina: The Tale of the Wolfman and the Lamproid occurs during the Battle of Endor, with flashbacks/time travel to other periods, rather than in 0 BBY like Tales from the Mos Eisley Cantina; A Boy and His Monster: The Rancor Keeper's Tale begins before the Battle of Yavin, not in 4 ABY as with other stories from Tales from Jabba's Palace; and Simple Tricks starts after Kyp Durron's redemption, unlike the 5 ABY listing of Tales from the New Republic.

It is my belief, and something I am currently exploring with Jabba's Palace, that the anthologies themselves don't truly belong within the Timeline of Media. Instead, each individual short story should be listed to create a more complete and precise timeline.

Please reinstate the stories you have removed, and I wish you success in your timeline research. Muscle6386 (talk) 17:46, December 5, 2012 (UTC)

  • The purpose of the Timeline of media is not merely to list every publication, but to present each individual story in its proper in-universe chronological order, offering a centralized location for determining a story's placement in the overall chronology. This has been the guiding principle from the beginning, as evidenced here , here , here and here . The "Tales" anthologies should definitely be broken down within the Timeline of short stories , with each anthology being listed in the Timeline of books . However, the Timeline of media serves as a comprehensive list encompassing all other timelines, and to achieve maximum accuracy, it should list the stories individually. Listing only the Anthology deprives the timeline of significant detail. As an example, the Star Wars Tales comics, which have never been printed as individual issues, are nonetheless included on this timeline as distinct entities. • P.S. For future discussions, it is preferable to continue them on the original page where they began. This facilitates easier tracking of the conversation. Muscle6386 ( talk ) 17:07, December 7, 2012 (UTC)

I believe it would be beneficial to have a chronological compilation of all books and short stories. (Effectively, a combination of the existing short stories and books timelines)--ExarKunLives (talk) 03:15, December 10, 2012 (UTC)

  • The primary concern will likely be whether such a page is truly necessary, or simply a redundant duplication of information already available elsewhere (Timeline of media). Redundancy is generally discouraged. I recall a project from last year where a user developed a version of the Timeline of media that allowed users to select which media types to display, effectively filtering the results to their desired selections. However, I believe that project stalled. If you wish to pursue this idea, develop a compelling justification, encourage further discussion, and potentially create a sandbox page for testing purposes. I lack sufficient knowledge of the wiki's coding to accomplish that. And I don't intend to create another redundant list. I simply believe it would be helpful for some users.--ExarKunLives (talk) 21:22, December 10, 2012 (UTC)

  • I've acquired most of my knowledge of the wiki code by observing how it has been implemented in other areas. It simply requires time and practice. Regarding your timeline concept, I am not attempting to discourage you. I am merely informing you that you bear the responsibility of convincing the editing community of the value of an additional timeline. Muscle6386 ( talk )

Making a better "Timeline of media" revisited

Hello ExarKunLives, I have recently resumed the Timeline of media overhaul that Morbus Iff began some time ago, as discussed here, building upon our previous discussion under my former username, User:Muscle6386. As a recent contributor to the Timeline of media, your feedback on the nearly completed project would be greatly appreciated: User:Tainb'ocu'chulainn/Sandbox Timeline. The discussion forum is located at Forum:SH:Making a better Timeline of media: revisited. Thank you. Tainb'ocu'chulainn (talk) 20:51, February 11, 2013 (UTC)
