Utu was a woman, an Admiral within the Galactic Empire's Navy. In 18 BBY, during the events of the Campaign at Salient, she held a position with a battle group located at Telos. Moff Wilhuff Tarkin asked Utu to dispatch as many warships as possible from her Telos station to the Salient system. Subsequently, a commander informed Tarkin that Utu's intention was to deploy two Star Destroyers.
