Val (Natala Yooms' sister)

title: Val

During the Great Galactic War, a conflict between the Galactic Republic and the Sith Empire, lived a Human female named Val. She was the sister of Natala Yooms, the wife of Zeerid Korr, and the mother of Arra Yooms. Korr served the Republic's Special Forces as both a commando and a pilot, meaning Val's time with him was limited, even though they resided on the Mid Rim world of Vulta with their daughter. Before the Battle of Alderaan, Val began experiencing dizzy spells, yet she chose to bring Arra to see Korr during his leave on Vulta. While en route to meet her husband, Val experienced another episode, causing her to crash into another airspeeder. This tragic event resulted in Val's death and left Arra with severe injuries, turning Korr into a single father caring for his disabled child.

Biography

Around 3681 BBY, a Human female named Val lived and was the sister of Natala Yooms. She would eventually meet and fall in love with Zeerid Korr, who was a member of the Galactic Republic's army. He served as a commando and pilot for the Special Forces division referred to as Havoc Squad. Despite Natala's warnings about getting involved with a pilot or soldier due to their disregard for safety, Val disregarded this advice. Instead, she chose to marry Korr and, in 3662 BBY, they had a daughter named Arra. The family of three lived together in the city of Yinta Lake, located on the Mid Rim world of Vulta. Despite Korr's deep love for his wife and daughter, his responsibilities as a soldier compelled him to leave Vulta and fight for the Republic in the ongoing galactic war against the Sith Empire. Prior to the Sith invasion of Alderaan, Val began to experience dizzy spells that affected her motor skills while her husband was away. Although she informed Korr of this, they overlooked the issue when he was granted a temporary leave of absence on Vulta. Anxious to see her husband, Val decided to travel with her daughter to meet Korr. During the journey, Val suffered another dizzying episode, causing her airspeeder to swerve and collide with another vehicle. This accident tragically killed Val and left Arra crippled; the young girl narrowly escaped death, but lost her legs, which were crushed in the crash.

Following this tragedy, Korr resigned from the Republic Military to mourn his wife and care for his daughter. Lacking a pension or any readily available income, the former soldier was forced to join The Exchange as a smuggler. While he worked to earn credits to cover Arra's medical expenses, Val's sister, Natala, took care of the young girl.

Personality and traits

Val's love for Zeerid Korr was profound, leading her to disregard her sister's advice about choosing a partner in order to be with him. She longed for Korr during his deployments with the Republic Special Forces, and she was willing to drive to see him during his leave, even while suffering from her own debilitating illness. Her death had a significant impact on her daughter, Arra, and served as a primary reason for Natala Yooms's later encouragement of Korr to spend more time with his daughter.
