Varn

Varn, located in the Quelii sector of the Outer Rim Territories, was a planet primarily composed of water.

History

Skywalker on Varn

The archipelagos of Varn served as the habitat for amphibious fishers and ocean farmers. The planet gained notoriety through the unexciting holodocumentary titled Varn, World of Water. This documentary subsequently inspired the formation of the Cult of Varn among the desert-dwelling Kamarian species, much to the annoyance of Varn's inhabitants.

Following the destruction of the first Death Star, the Galactic Empire utilized Varn's atmosphere-lacking moon as a testing ground for a superlaser. This continued until Luke Skywalker successfully disrupted the research facility.

Subsequently, Lando Calrissian established a mining operation focused on fraca and tertian within Varn's oceans. This venture was then expanded by the shrewd businessman to include tourism, marked by the construction of the Deep Pockets casino. By 19 ABY, pirate attacks had become a regular occurrence on the planet. Calrissian journeyed to Morishim to seek assistance from General Bel Iblis, leading to their involvement in the Caamas Document Crisis.

Behind the scenes

In the PC game Star Wars: Rebellion, Varn is incorrectly located within the Quelli sector, representing a spelling error of the actual Quelii sector.
