During the concluding phases of the war, the Human Sith Lord Ulic Qel-Droma attempted to compel a Republic military officer to send commands to the Republic fleet. These orders directed all starships within the fleet to converge at the Vento system shipyards' coordinates, an action intended to bring about the annihilation of numerous Republic vessels. However, the Lord of the Sith's directives were thwarted when a group of Jedi Knights apprehended Qel-Droma.
The initial mention of the Vento system occurred in the second installment of the Star Wars: Tales of the Jedi comic books series' The Sith War story arc. This issue, penned by Kevin J. Anderson and illustrated by Dario Carrasco, Jr., was released on September 19, 1995. Subsequently, an entry for the Vento system was included in The Complete Star Wars Encyclopedia, a reference work that saw publication on December 9, 2008.
