Vex Major, alternatively called Far Gent, was a planet situated in the Outer Rim Territories within the Moddell sector, characterized by its swampy environment. Initially colonized by a faction of the Order of the Ffib, by the time the Yuuzhan Vong War occurred, which was many decades later, Vex Major was populated by secluded Human clans who were primarily fishers.
A terrestrial planet, Vex Major, could be found inside the Vex system. It was positioned in the Inner Moddell systems region of the Moddell sector, itself a subsectors within the Inner Zuma Region of the Outer Rim Territories' Zuma sector. Similar to the other planets in the Vex system, Vex Major was connected via hyperlanes to both the Vasha system and the Firrerre system within the Sugai sector.
Vex Major had a local year that consisted of 299 local days, with each day lasting twenty standard hours. The planet featured standard gravity, a Type I atmosphere suitable for breathing, and a temperate climate that was also prone to storms. Vex Major was a swampy world, and its landscape also encompassed forests and oceans.
Four decades before the Yuuzhan Vong invasion of the galaxy, which commenced in 25 ABY, a faction of the Order of the Ffib colonized Vex Major. By the time of the New Republic's rule, the descendants of these original settlers remained deeply devout and insisted on referring to Vex Major as Far Gent. During the Yuuzhan Vong War, the planet was inhabited by isolated clans of resilient Human fishers, totaling a population of 250,000.
Despite having access to space-level technology, including a small spaceport, and engaging in the import and export of foodstuffs, the people of Vex Major showed little interest in the affairs of the New Republic beyond basic trading. The spacer inhabitants of the Vex system's asteroid belt disparagingly called the Vex Major natives "mudballers."
The planet Vex Major was initially mentioned within the "Endor and the Moddell Sector" article, featured in the ninth issue of the Star Wars Gamer magazine published on February 22, 2002. The reference book The Essential Atlas, released in 2009, located the planet in grid square H-16.
