Vollkas represented a type of predatory cat species that originated from Mirran Six, their homeworld. Their size approached that of smaller humans, although they were smaller when compared to targons, which were another feline species; they also displayed rosette patterns in green and blue. Electricity, capable of being discharged as energy blasts, was generated by the spiraling horns on their heads. By the year 331 BBY, their population had dwindled to near extinction levels, a consequence of scientists' pursuit of them. These scientists sought to investigate and reproduce the vollka's alleged talent for fading into invisibility during hunts. Conversely, some argued that the cats simply moved at such high speeds that this created the illusion of vanishing.
More than a century before the attack on Tiikae, the San Tekka clan came across and took in a female vollka whose name was Remy. At the time of the Tiikae incident, Remy was owned by Jordanna Sparkburn, a cousin within the San Tekka family, who held the position of deputy on Tiikae.
