The Vretha system existed within the Hollan sector, which itself was situated in the New Territories region of the Mid Rim.
This system, Vretha, first appeared in the 2009 publication The Essential Atlas, a collaborative work by Daniel Wallace and Jason Fry, identifying its location as grid M-7. The system's name drew inspiration from a reference to Vrethan stationery products found in the 1993 book Monsters and Aliens from George Lucas. This book featured creature designs and images from various projects by Star Wars creator George Lucas, accompanied by original writing from Bob Carrau. However, Leland Chee of Lucasfilm, the keeper of the Holocron continuity database, has clarified that the details within Monsters and Aliens from George Lucas are considered non-canonical within the Star Wars Legends continuity.
