Vultar was a planet that existed within the Vultar system. This system was situated in the Arrowhead region, which itself was located within the Slice section of the Core Worlds. Evidence suggests that the Celestials, an ancient and technologically advanced species that vanished from the galaxy around 30,000 BBY, were responsible for the creation of the Vultar system and its planets. They supposedly utilized various devices, notably the Cosmic Turbine, a machine capable of manipulating gravity.
In 4250 BBY, a group composed of Dark Jedi attempted to weaponize these same devices, including the Cosmic Turbine, against their adversaries, the Jedi Order. However, this resulted in a catastrophic accident that destroyed the machines, eliminated the darksiders, and annihilated the entire Vultar system, leaving behind only the Vultar Nebula. Millennia afterward, the Galactic Federation of Free Alliances's Historical Council documented the unfortunate fate of the Vultar system's planets in a document that was released in 36 ABY.
The initial mention of the planets within the Vultar system appeared in The New Essential Chronology, a reference book from 2005 authored by Daniel Wallace and Kevin J. Anderson. Later, in 2008, The Complete Star Wars Encyclopedia specifically identified the planet as Vultar. The reference book The Essential Atlas, published in 2009, pinpointed the location of the Vultar system, and consequently Vultar itself, within grid square L-10.
