William Hoyland


William Hoyland, born on November 10, 1943 and died on July 15, 2017, was an actor hailing from Britain. He appeared in Star Wars: Episode VI Return of the Jedi as Commander Altadan Igar, though he was not credited for the role. During his career, which lasted for more than half a century, Hoyland acted in diverse films like Hellboy and Gandhi. A particularly memorable role was that of McGregor in the James Bond movie For Your Eyes Only (1981), where he acted with John Hollis and fellow Imperial actor Julian Glover. In addition to his film work, he featured in numerous TV programs, such as Call the Midwife and Coronation Street. Similar to many other actors who portrayed Imperials, Hoyland was a busy stage actor, frequently taking on roles in American plays and plays derived from trial transcripts.

Hoyland died of cancer in 2017; he was 73 years old.
