Windy was a male human. As a youngling, he was friends with Luke Skywalker, the Tatooine moisture farmer who would eventually become a member of the Rebel Alliance. Other individuals in their friend group were Biggs Darklighter, Camie Marstrap, Deak, and Laze Loneozner. After discovering Windy and a 12-year-old Skywalker passed out in a sandstorm, Obi-Wan Kenobi once saved them from a krayt dragon.
Windy's character initially showed up in some of the initial drafts of Star Wars. Despite being cut from the final version of Star Wars: Episode IV A New Hope, the character was featured in deleted scenes and several Star Wars Legends stories, sometimes named Windom Marstrap and other times Windy Starkiller. Windy also appears in Star Wars LINE Webtoon, but the Webtoon comic exists in a canon "grey area" because the comic was permitted to have cultural interpretation. The events depicted in the comic were mentioned in the 2018 reference book, Star Wars: The Complete Visual Dictionary, New Edition, which stated that Luke was twelve years old, even though the comic indicated he was thirteen.
