In the year 40 ABY, the Wookiees residing on Kashyyyk had a substantial collection of warships, featuring Owool Interceptors. The Rock Council of the Wookiees convened at Council Rock during that time to deliberate on potentially offering their fleet to the Galactic Federation of Free Alliances for their conflict, the war, with the dissenting Confederation. The Galactic Alliance Fifth Fleet of the Galactic Alliance then entered orbit, and Jacen Solo, the oppressive Chief of State, charged the Wookiees with protecting fugitive Jedi. After their denial, the Fifth Fleet started to bombard the planet, demonstrating Solo's displeasure with their reluctance. During the resulting battle, the Wookiee fleet retaliated, supported by several Confederate fleets. The Galactic Alliance retreated, leading the Wookiees to become part of an unofficial Jedi Coalition.
