The Worker's District represented one of the districts located within Mos Espa, a city situated on Tatooine, a planet found in the Outer Rim territories amidst the desert. After Jabba's death and the subsequent downfall of Jabba's criminal empire, Bib Fortuna, who was his majordomo, took over as lord, asserting his claim to Jabba's throne. Fortuna then divided Mos Espa's operations among three crime families: the Strassi family, which controlled the city center; the Aqualish crime family, which had authority over the Worker's District; and the Klatooinian family, which held sway over the upper sprawl and the spaceport.
