Xutoo

CT-X270, known as Xutoo, was a clone commando who also served as a pilot within the Grand Army of the Republic during the Clone Wars. Circa 22 BBY, Xutoo was selected alongside three other clone troopers by Advanced Recon Commando Nate for a mission that took them to the planet of Ord Cestus. These clone troopers functioned as an armed guard for two Jedi, specifically Kit Fisto and Obi-Wan Kenobi, in addition to the Vippit barrister named Doolb Snoil.

As the mission unfolded, Kenobi tasked Xutoo with the responsibility of returning Snoil to Coruscant, the galactic capital. However, while en route, their transport came under attack by a drone ship, secretly deployed by individuals belonging to the Five Families, who comprised the ruling council of the Cestus Cybernetics organization. Snoil managed to survive this aerial assault by utilizing an escape pod; however, Xutoo's ship was completely destroyed, resulting in the death of the clone pilot.

Biography

Xutoo, also known as CT-X270, was one of the countless clones derived from the bounty hunter Jango Fett. These clones were created on the planet Kamino for the purpose of serving within the Grand Army of the Republic. Xutoo underwent specialized training to become a clone trooper pilot. In the period around 22 BBY, Xutoo was chosen to be part of a squad consisting of four clone commandos. This squad was personally selected by Advanced Recon Commando Nate to accompany Jedi Master Kit Fisto, Jedi Knight Obi-Wan Kenobi, and the Vippit Barrister Doolb Snoil on a mission to the planet Ord Cestus. The Jedi were dispatched with the goal of preventing Cestus Cybernetics, a local corporation, from selling the highly dangerous JK-13 security droids to the Confederacy of Independent Systems.

Xutoo was the pilot who flew Obi-Wan Kenobi and Kit Fisto to Ord Cestus.

Xutoo, along with Nate and troopers Sirty, Forry, and Seefor, arrived at Centralia Memorial Spaceport on Coruscant, the galactic capital, via a military shuttle. There, they met the Jedi and the Barrister. After the team loaded their cargo onto their transport cruiser, Xutoo assumed control of the ship and piloted it to Ord Cestus. Initially, Xutoo landed the ship in a remote and sparsely populated area of the Dashta plain, where the group then separated. Fisto, along with all the clone troopers except Xutoo, disembarked with the intention of organizing and training the local population to initiate an insurgency should Kenobi's and Snoil's diplomatic efforts fail. Xutoo then set a course for ChikatLik, the capital city, simulating a plausible arrival trajectory for a ship coming from Coruscant, and landed the transport at a designated landing pad where a delegation was already present, awaiting the dignitaries from the Republic. While in ChikatLik, Kenobi attempted to establish a secure communications link with Coruscant by routing it through Xutoo at their docked ship, but a solar storm disrupted the connection.

When the negotiations proved unsuccessful, Kenobi and Fisto decided to resort to deception to achieve their objectives. Fisto pretended to be a Nautolan mercenary working for the Confederacy and kidnapped members of the Five Families, which constituted the ruling body of Cestus Cybernetics and, effectively, the rulers of the entire planet. Kenobi then rescued the corporation's leaders and successfully swayed the Cestians to support the Republic. However, the Jedi's deception was exposed due to a recording secretly made by Asajj Ventress, a Confederate Dark Acolyte. As a result, Kenobi and Snoil were banished from Cestus and were forced to return to Coruscant without achieving their goals. Kenobi and Snoil made their way back to Xutoo's ship, and the clone pilot initiated takeoff. However, Kenobi decided to continue his work on the planet, requesting Xutoo to ensure Snoil's safe return to Coruscant. He then used an escape pod to secretly reach Fisto's location. Immediately after Kenobi left the ship, Xutoo noticed a drone ship approaching their transport. This ship had been dispatched by the Five Families in an attempt to prevent the Jedi from reaching Coruscant, as they had uncovered critical information that could potentially end their rule over Cestus.

The drone ship launched a barrage of probe droids that locked onto Xutoo's transport and began their attack. Desperately trying to avoid the incoming fire, Xutoo alerted Snoil about the attack and advised him to evacuate the ship using one of the remaining escape pods. Initially, Snoil was stunned by the attack and hesitated to leave, but when Xutoo informed him that he would jettison the remaining pods to distract the attacking probe droids, Snoil quickly changed his mind, boarded one of the pods, and escaped. Xutoo jettisoned the pods as promised and performed a series of evasive maneuvers in an attempt to dodge the enemy fire. However, the ship was soon destroyed, and Xutoo was killed. Snoil successfully reached the ground and was rescued by the Jedi's forces. Although the Barrister was later killed during the conflict, the overall mission was considered a success.

Personality and traits

Like all clone troopers, Xutoo had a height of 1.83 meters. Having been raised as a clone trooper pilot, Xutoo demonstrated great confidence and skill when handling the controls of the Jedi transport. When confronted by the attacking ship, Xutoo attempted to remain calm, although a hint of panic could be detected in his voice when addressing Snoil. Xutoo was determined to protect the Barrister's life and strongly urged him to leave the ship. The clone pilot did his best to evade the attack, using the escape pods to distract the attacking droids and successfully executing a series of complex evasive maneuvers. Despite these efforts, Xutoo's life could not be saved.

Behind the scenes

Xutoo's sole appearance within the Star Wars Legends continuity occurred in The Cestus Deception, a novel written by Steven Barnes that was released in 2004.
