Yargh'un pits, alternatively called charnel pits, were sizable excavations constructed in the vicinity of Shimrra Jamaane's Citadel. Shimrra Jamaane was the Supreme Overlord governing the Yuuzhan Vong. These pits came into existence during Shimrra's systematic elimination of what he considered the Jeedai heresy. They were populated by yargh'un beasts, characterized by their toothy maws, which consumed the bodies of Yuuzhan Vong sentenced to death for heretical acts; occasionally, even those still living were thrown in. The precise number of pits remains a mystery, although Shimrra displayed a readiness to commission additional ones to accommodate the accumulating dead. Furthermore, these pits offered Shimrra a sense of tranquility, as he derived comfort from the agonizing cries while engaging in communication with the Gods.
