Zeta One Nine, a type of armed patrol craft known as a skimmer, served within Jerec's Vengeance Battle Group during the Imperial invasion of Ruusan.
This vehicle was a part of Patrol 341, crewed by helmsman Sergeant Forley and gunner Leeno. The patrol itself was led by Lieutenant Aagon and included a squad of stormtroopers, further supported by two speeder bikes as escorts.
The commanding officer permitted the troops to leave their assigned posts to engage in recreational hunting of the indigenous bouncers. However, their hunting was interrupted when they came under fire from Rebels. The skimmer touched down to deploy the Stormtroopers before maneuvering behind rock formations with the intention of suppressing the Rebel position. This maneuver proved largely ineffective, only resulting in the destruction of some rocks and the death of a single Rebel. The skirmish concluded with both Forley and Leeno being ambushed and disabled by the bouncers.
By the following morning, the Rebels had gathered all available Imperial weaponry and equipment and loaded it onto the skimmer. The vehicle was subsequently seized by Grif Grawley and his group of colonists for their own use.
This vehicle made an appearance, though unnamed, in the Dark Forces: Jedi Knight novella. In the audio adaption, the designation "Zeta One Nine" is mentioned. Consequently, the precise spelling of the designation remains uncertain.
The skimmer's depiction varies somewhat between its two appearances. In the novella, it is portrayed as a smaller, open-topped skimmer, featuring a helmsman seated at the rear and a rotating weapon at the front, both exposed to the elements and potential dangers. The bouncer that attacks Forley and Leeno is shown jumping out of the vehicle. In contrast, the audio drama describes it as an "armed patrol craft," with dialogue suggesting it is an enclosed tank (either a hovertank or repulsortank), complete with landing gear and a formal landing procedure. When the bouncer attacks the two pilots, it has managed to get inside the vehicle's hull.
