The 2nd Fleet, a component of the Galactic Republic's naval branch, specifically its fleet, came into existence sometime between 22 BBY and 19 BBY. This fleet was positioned in the Quellor sector throughout the Clone Wars conflict between the Republic and the Confederacy of Independent Systems. The Neimoidian Purse Worlds, belonging to the Trade Federation and aligned with the Confederacy, were situated within this sector. Due to the presence of these purse-worlds, the 2nd Fleet enacted a blockade of the sector. Consequently, they engaged in combat with the CIS Trade Federation Home Defense Legions and their massive fleet composed of Lucrehulk-class Battleships, which effectively stalled the Republic's naval forces. Being one of the Republic Navy's twenty primary fleets, it was integrated with a Sector Army belonging to the Grand Army of the Republic.
A reference to the 2nd Fleet appears in Rise of the Separatists, a supplementary roleplaying sourcebook for the Star Wars Roleplaying series, released by Fantasy Flight Games in 2019.
