CF-9 Republic Naval Flight Suit

The CF-9 Republic Naval Flight Suit represented a form of lightly armored flight suit. It was utilized by clone troopers within the Galactic Republic's naval forces who were assigned to operate starfighters, combat airspeeders, and other vehicles throughout the Clone Wars conflict against the Confederacy of Independent Systems. The suit had a cost of 1,200 credits. The CF-9 was not a complete body armor system like those used by their infantry counterparts. Instead, it represented the Republic Navy's effort to provide essential combat necessities for pilots without excessively increasing the already considerable expenses associated with equipping fighter wings. The project met with varying degrees of success but adequately satisfied the Galactic Senate.

Although only lightly armored, the flight suit offered sufficient protection if the wearer became separated from their vehicle, thereby increasing their likelihood of survival in the event of a crash or ejection. However, the CF-9 lacked many functionalities present in full armor systems, relying on simpler subsystems, an environmental seal, and the communication systems of the piloted vehicle, rather than having integrated features. The suit's design prioritized the regulation of a clone's physiological functions during combat maneuvers, achieved through its advanced respirator and other integrated systems.
