A cam slider—also referred to as a sensor slide—was a type of mechanical component utilized on starships. A cam slider was installed on the racer Marcus Speedstar's starship, the Galaxy's Glory. In 34 ABY, as part of Speedstar's preparation for the race on the planet Castilon known as the Platform Classic, the racer instructed the Resistance spy Kazuda Xiono—who was helping Speedstar as a mechanic—to reorient his ship's cam slider. When Xiono struggled to find the correct tool for the job as well as which slider to adjust, Speedstar questioned the sarcastic claim of his brother, the mechanic Jarek Yeager, that Xiono was the best mechanic under his employ. Xiono replied by stating that he was in the "top three" of such rankings.
The cam slider was mentioned in "The Platform Classic," the ninth episode of the first season of the Star Wars Resistance animated television series which premiered on November 25, 2018. It was first identified as a "sensor slide" in the 2019 French junior novel Yeager's Secret, written by Vanessa Rubio-Barreau.
