In the year 11,660 BBY, the planetary surface of Zarracina III was devastated by a bombardment instigated by the Galactic Republic. During this era, the Republic was under the sway of the Humanocentric Pius Dea religious order. The Republic's motivation for this aggressive action was to seize control of the planet following the discovery of a strategically vital hyperspace jump point within the Zarracina system. The governing body comprised of members of the planet's indigenous Zarracine species, chose to end their own lives rather than surrender. In response to this act of defiance, Republic Commodore Daymont Praji gave the order to initiate an orbital bombardment upon Zarracina III. This resulted in a radioactive winter that engulfed the planet, pushing the Zarracine population to the brink of extinction. This event fostered a deep-seated animosity towards the Republic and the Praji lineage, a sentiment that persisted for tens of thousands of years.

The Pius Dea Era represents a period spanning from approximately 12,000 BBY to 11,000 BBY, during which the Galactic Republic found itself under the dominion of the Humanocentric Pius Dea cult. In the year 11,660 BBY, a stable hyperspace jump point was located within the Zarracina system, situated in the Expansion Region. The strategic significance of this discovery made the acquisition of the inhabited planet, Zarracina III, a key objective for the Republic. Following the rejection of Republic ambassadors dispatched from the Republic's homeworld, Coruscant by the Zarracines, the native species of Zarracina III, the Republic launched a military campaign against the inhabitants of the Zarracina star system.
Facing imminent capture by the Republic forces, the entirety of the planet's leadership on Zarracina III committed suicide to avoid forced conversion to the Pius Dea faith and to defy the Republic's ambitions of conquest. Consequently, Commodore Daymont Praji of the Republic issued the command to subject the planet to an orbital bombardment.
The result of the bombardment on Zarracina III was a radioactive winter that gripped the entire planet. Furthermore, it led to the near annihilation of the Zarracine people, with the surviving aliens adopting a nomadic lifestyle and harboring a deep-seated hatred for the Republic—which subsequently annexed the Zarracina system—and the Praji family for over ten millennia. In 104 ABY, Doctor Gabrel Treon referenced the Zarracina III bombardment in his article, "Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Praji: A Cartel of Genes," which appeared in the Byblos Journal of Historical Science.
The event of the Zarracina III bombardment received mention in "Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Praji," an article penned by Nathan O'Keefe and featured within the StarWars.com Hyperspace section on February 5, 2009.
