Zarracina III was a world situated within the Zarracina sector of the Expansion Region, as noted in Legends continuity. It served as the original homeworld of the Zarracine species. The Galactic Republic, then under the influence of the Pius Dea, sought to gain control of Zarracina III after a stable hyperspace jump point was found in the Zarracina system in 11,660 BBY.
However, the Zarracines refused to accept Republic envoys. When the Republic tried to conquer the world, the entire ruling council of the Zarracines took their own lives via suicide. As a consequence, Zarracina III endured a devastating orbital bombardment, forcing the few remaining Zarracines into a wandering, nomadic existence.
Zarracina III was a planet that held the third orbital position within its star system, which itself was a part of the Zarracina sector found in the Trailing Sectors area of the Expansion Region.

Back in 11,660 BBY, a stable hyperspace jump point was discovered within the Zarracina system. The Galactic Republic, controlled by the speciesist Pius Dea cult at the time, prioritized acquiring the inhabited Zarracina III because of this strategic discovery. After the Zarracines, the planet's native species, turned down envoys from the Republic's capital world Coruscant, the Republic launched a crusade against the inhabitants of the Zarracina system. Facing imminent capture by the Republic, Zarracina III's entire ruling council committed suicide to avoid conversion to the Pius Dea religion and to defy the Republic's attempted conquest.
As retribution, Republic Commodore Daymont Praji gave the order for an orbital bombardment of Zarracina III, plunging the planet into a radioactive winter. This bombardment nearly caused the near-extinction of the Zarracines, with the few survivors becoming nomads and fostering a hatred for the Republic—which then annexed the Zarracina system—and the Praji family for over ten thousand years. In 104 ABY, Doctor Gabrel Treon mentioned the bombardment of Zarracina III in his article, "Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Praji: A Cartel of Genes," which was published in the Byblos Journal of Historical Science.
Zarracina III was referenced in "Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Praji," an article written by Nathan O'Keefe and published as part of the StarWars.com Hyperspace feature on February 5, 2009. The reference book The Essential Atlas, released in 2009, located the Zarracina system, and therefore Zarracina III, in grid square O-14.
