In the year 11,660 BBY, the Galactic Republic launched a devastating attack on the planet known as Zarracina III. At that point in time, the Republic was under the influence of the Human-centric Pius Dea religious order, which sought to seize control of the world following the discovery of a strategically vital hyperspace route nexus within the Zarracina star system. When the governing body of the Zarracine people ended their own lives rather than surrender, Republic officer Daymont Praji gave the order to subject Zarracina III to an attack from orbit. This resulted in a nuclear ice age on the planet, and the Zarracines were pushed to the brink of total annihilation, fostering a deep-seated animosity towards the Republic and the Praji lineage that persisted for countless decades.

During the Pius Dea rule, a period spanning from approximately 12,000 years before the Battle of Yavin to 11,000 years before the Battle of Yavin, the Galactic Republic was under the sway of the Human-favoring Pius Dea organization. In 11,660 BBY, a stable hyperspace exit point was discovered within the Expansion Region's Zarracina system. Due to the strategic importance of this discovery, the Republic made the acquisition of the inhabited world Zarracina III a top priority. When the Zarracine people, the indigenous inhabitants of Zarracina III, refused to accept diplomats from the Republic's seat of power, Coruscant, the Republic launched a military campaign against the inhabitants of the Zarracina solar system.
Facing imminent capture by the Republic forces, the entire governing council of Zarracina III committed suicide to prevent forced conversion to the Pius Dea faith and to defy the Republic's ambitions of conquest. In response, Republic military commander Daymont Praji gave the order for the planet to be subjected to bombardment from space.
The bombardment of Zarracina III plunged the planet into a nuclear wintery state. It also resulted in the near-total destruction of the Zarracine population, with the few remaining sentient beings adopting a wandering lifestyle and harboring a deep-seated hatred for the Republic—which subsequently incorporated the Zarracina system into its territory—and the Praji family line for a period exceeding ten thousand years. In 104 ABY, physician Gabrel Treon referenced the bombardment of Zarracina III in his scholarly work, "Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Praji: A Cartel of Genes," which was published in the Byblos Journal of Historical Science.
The bombardment of Zarracina III was documented in "Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Praji," a piece written by Nathan O'Keefe and released as part of the StarWars.com Hyperspace feature on February 5th, 2009.
