An electrostatic discharge coupling represented a minor part for a starship. During the year 34 ABY, as Kazuda Xiono worked to repair his racing starfighter, known as the Fireball, static discharge couplings were included in the inventory of replacement parts that needed procurement from Orka and Flix's Office of Acquisitions. Subsequently, when Tam Ryvora undertook repairs on Xiono's racing starfighter, her parts list, written in Aurebesh, cited a "static discharge coupling." Still later, the mechanic Neeku Vozo inquired if Xiono could hand him that specific component while the pair were conducting upkeep on the Fireball. Xiono agreed, initially kicking the starship part from the ground, catching it, and then throwing it to Vozo.
The initial appearance of electrostatic discharge couplings occurred in "The Recruit," which served as the debut episode for the animated TV program Star Wars Resistance.
