Orka

Orka, a male Chadra-Fan, managed the Office of Acquisitions located on the Colossus alongside his business associate, Flix. In their partnership, Orka primarily handled all negotiations.

Biography

Together, Orka and Flix operated the Office of Acquisitions, a store specializing in starship components situated on the Colossus platform. Orka was the negotiator of the pair. They were assisted by a DUM-series pit droid called G-LN.

Enter Kaz

Orka and Flix

During the New Republic era, Orka and Flix received a visit from Kazuda Xiono, a Resistance spy posing as a "mechanic", who had unknowingly entered a race against Ace Squadron pilot Torra Doza. Initially, Orka and Flix dismissed Xiono, but his fellow mechanic Neeku Vozo presented Xiono's acquisition order. Lacking the necessary funds for the parts, Orka agreed to accept a gorg in return for second-hand parts. Xiono procured the gorg, only to find Orka and Flix already eating. Despite this, they honored their agreement and provided Xiono with three boxes of unwanted spare parts.

Kaz's second visit

Later, Orka and Flix were at their shop when Xiono came to buy a ZX-19 compressor. They chuckled, with Orka inquiring if Kaz had brought credits this time. While Kaz was buying the compressor, they showed interest in Kaz's lucky trophy, but he refused to sell it, as it was a prize from a space race. Orka mentioned that Xiono could live comfortably for months if he sold his trophy. Xiono repeated that he would not sell it.

Shortly after, Tam Ryvora, another employee of Jarek Yeager, entered the store and scolded Xiono for being behind schedule. Later that day, the Colossus was raided by the Warbird gang of Quarren pirate Kragan Gorr during a Triple dark storm.

The tri-tracker chipper

While Team Fireball worked to upgrade the Colossus' anti-air defenses, Xiono and BB-8 visited the Office of Acquisitions in search of a CoMar Tri-Tracker chip. Orka jokingly stated that they had five of those chips, six hyperdrive cores, and a crate of kyber crystals. Flix corrected him, pointing out that he was joking. Orka laughed, saying they barely had enough credits for lunch. After Flix directed Xiono to the scavengers, Orka expressed pessimism about Xiono's chances. Xiono managed to get a tri-tracker chip from the undercover pirate Synara San. Later, Kragan's Warbirds raided the Colossus a second time.

The attempted heist

Later on, Orka and Flix were behind the counter when the Snivvian criminal Narb robbed them, forcing them at gunpoint to give him several crates. Orka and Flix did as they were told. As Narb left the store, Orka activated a trapdoor while Flix recovered the crates. When Narb's brother Nod entered the shop looking for Narb, he fell into the same trap.

Unwanted treasure

Orka and Flix later acquired a treasure chest from the salvager and undercover pirate Synara San. Back at their shop, Orka opened the chest, only to find it filled with thermal detonators. Orka accidentally triggered the detonator's countdown. Fortunately, the detonators did not explode. After throwing the detonators into the sea, Orka and Flix bought a new one from Synara San.

Drinks at Aunt Z

Later, Flix and Orka went to Aunt Z's Tavern for drinks, bringing their pit droid G-LN. Sensing that G-LN was feeling down, Orka tried to lift his spirits by giving him blurrgfire. However, this caused G-LN to go on a rampage in the Tavern, irritating two service droids including Glitch and the Klatooinian merchant Bolza Grool. These droids and Grool roughed up G-LN. Flix and Orka soon found G-LN on the floor and decided that blurrgfire did not agree with their droid. Undeterred, Orka ordered another round.

Hype Fazon's droid

Hype Fazon, the Ace leader, brought his astromech droid R4-G77 to Orka and Flix, believing that it had a faulty motivator. Orka led a reluctant R4-G77 behind the counter to examine it. However, R4 refused to be worked on and fought back with a spark projector, causing chaos in the shop. Orka managed to subdue R4. Flix commented that it wasn't so bad, and Orka agreed before collapsing to the floor.

The phase connector theft

In exchange for providing Team Fireball with spare parts for the Fireball, Orka and Flix hired Kaz and BB-8 to watch their shop for a day while they visited Flix's mother. While they were away, Teroj Kee, a First Order agent, came to steal their phase connector. After a struggle with BB-8, Teroj stole the phase connector. However, Kaz stopped him from escaping offworld by shooting down his ship with Bitey's help.

Upon their return, Orka and Flix were shocked by the state of their shop. Kaz told them about Teroj's attempted theft of the phase connector. Orka praised Kaz for preventing Teroj from escaping with the technology, explaining that Teroj had been trying to harm their business for years. While grateful to Kaz, Orka and Flix still insisted that he clean up the mess.

First Order occupation

As the First Order's occupation became more oppressive, Orka and Flix devised a plan to escape the Colossus by hiding themselves in a crate with their pet Gorg Bitey and G-LN to Flix's mother on Talivar. They encountered Kaz and CB-23, who were on a mission to free Yeager and liberate the Colossus. Orka and Flix doubted that Kaz's plan would work. However, they were proven wrong, and Kaz's resistance cell succeeded in driving out the First Order and taking the Colossus into hyperspace.

Escape into space

After the Battle of Castilon, Orka and Flix stayed on the Colossus as it fled into hyperspace. The two friends were at Aunt Z's Tavern when the station's gravity generator malfunctioned, causing them to float. While Flix was gloomy, Orka enjoyed floating in zero gravity.

While traveling through space, the Colossus began to run low on supplies, especially food. After two attempts, Kaz and Torra Doza managed to hunt a giant flying jakoosk on the icy world of Celsor 3. When the jakoosk meat was served, Orka took a plate.

Fuel run on Drahgor III

With the Colossus running out of fuel, Orka joined Flix, Kaz, Torra, and CB-23 on a mission to Drahgor III to get fuel. The refueling station on Drahgor III was operated by several of Flix's relatives, with whom he had a strained relationship. Against his family's wishes, Flix had tried to be a cantina singer before settling on the Colossus with Orka. Unaware of this family history, Orka tried to reassure Flix that his family would welcome him. However, Flix was pessimistic.

Due to the unstable atmosphere on Drahgor III, the descent was dangerous for the group's Star Commuter 2000 shuttle, and Orka and Flix almost got sucked out. After a rough landing, the group met Flix's relatives, including his cousin Flanx, who was disdainful of Flix. Flix also disagreed with Flanx's deep core drilling, believing it disturbed the Karnex Dragons' habitat. Flanx dismissed Flix's concerns, considering the dragons to be a myth. Despite the cold reception, Kaz convinced Flanx to give them fuel in exchange for helping to restart a broken driller.

Orka accompanied Flix, Kaz, Torra, CB-23, and Flanx down an elevator into the depths of Drahgor III. During the descent, a karnex dragon shook the elevator, causing rocks to jam the carriage. Orka and Torra were stuck on the shaft while the others descended in the carriage into the depths of the planet. Flix and the others escaped the doomed carriage and found their way to the bottom.

At Kaz's suggestion, Orka and Torra agreed to climb the shaft to the surface to get a shuttle to rescue their friends. Due to his small size, Orka was exhausted by the climb and rode on Torra's back for a while. Orka wanted to quit, but Torra urged him on, saying she needed his help to fly the shuttle. Reaching the surface, Orka and Torra met the other Gozzos and convinced them to let them fly a shuttle down to rescue Flix, Flanx, and the others. Orka also convinced the other Gozzos that Flix was entitled to fuel as a family member. Orka's determination earned him the respect of Flix's cousins.

Orka and Torra then flew the shuttle into the depths of Drahgor III. By then, Flix and the others had escaped several Karnex dragons by using bright lights to blind them temporarily. Realizing that his drilling was invading the dragons' habitat, Flanx used the drill to seal the cave and announced that all deep drilling would stop. Together, the group returned to the surface on a shuttle. Flix and Flanx reconciled, and Flanx allowed Team Colossus to get two giant tanks of fuel. Orka and the others then returned to the Colossus with their cargo.

Confronting the First Order

Orka and Flix went with the rest of the Colossus community when they tried to settle on the ocean world of Aeos, which was similar to Castilon. Despite a rough first meeting with the indigenous Aeosians, the Aeosian Queen agreed to let them settle after Kaz helped to broker peace. However, the Colossus inhabitants were forced to leave after the First Order discovered them and attacked them.

Orka, Flix, and G-LN later attended a townhall meeting hosted by Captain Doza where the residents agreed to aid Kanan, Yeager, and Tamara to fight against the pursuing First Order Resurgent-class Star Destroyer Thunderer during a battle in the Barabesh system.

Personality and traits

Orka had brown fur, a gray beard and eyebrows, and black eyes. He possessed a keen business sense and was skilled in negotiations. Orka was also known for his humorous nature. He once joked about his business, the Office of Acquisitions, stocking items they didn't actually have.

Orka considered Teroj Kee a "slimy womp rat" who had been attempting to steal from their business for years. While grateful to Kaz for preventing Teroj from stealing their phase connector, he still insisted that Kaz clean up the mess Teroj made during his heist.

Due to his short stature, Orka struggled to climb a long shaft on Drahgor III. He was also a loyal partner who defended Flix, insisting that he deserved access to his family's fuel. Orka also rescued his friends who were stranded in the depths of Drahgor III.

Orka and Flix were skeptical that Kaz's plan to liberate the Colossus from the First Order would be successful, given the First Order's military strength.

Skills and abilities

In addition to his mechanical skills, Orka could also pilot a Star Commuter 2000 shuttle.

Behind the scenes

Orka is a character conceived and developed for Star Wars Resistance. Bobby Moynihan provides his voice. During the Coffee with Kenobi podcast on September 30, 2019, producers Justin Ridge and Brandon Auman verified that Orka and Flix were romantically involved. Initially, in the script Moynihan received, Orka was called "Oscar."
