R4-G77, an astromech droid, served as the co-pilot of the Green Ace. His owner was Hype Fazon of Ace Squadron.
During the era of the New Republic, R4-G77 functioned as a personal astromech for Hype Fazon, a racer located at the Colossus refueling station. He participated in numerous races against the other members of Ace Squadron, with Fazon and R4 frequently achieving victory. On one occasion, when Fazon brought R4 to the Office of Acquisitions for a diagnostic check on his motivator, the droid resisted Flix and Orka's attempts to power him down for the examination. This resistance caused significant disarray within the shop before Orka successfully deactivated him.
R4-G77 possessed masculine programming and was an astromech droid. His exterior was adorned with advertising logos from various companies, including 8Key, Snoke Cones, 79's, Craft Repair and Maintenance, Koe's, Old Jho's Pit Stop, Outer Rim Supply Co., Power Sliders, Ronto Grill, Admiral Snackbar, and Level 1313 Boardwalk Cafe.
In contrast to the majority of astromech droids, R4-G77 utilized a repulsorlift for mobility. Furthermore, he was equipped internally with an electroshock stun device. He also had a claw for grasping.
The initial appearance of R4-G77 occurred in "The Recruit," the series premiere of Star Wars Resistance. His design drew inspiration from sketches created by Joe Johnston, a designer from the original trilogy. One particular sketch featured a floating droid, a design that perfectly suited the production's needs, although it would have presented considerable challenges for the special effects team involved in the original films.
