Flanx, a Gozzo of the male persuasion, was related to Flix as his cousin. Following Floog's departure from his role, Flanx stepped up to manage the flock's fuel refinery located on Drahgor III. He held a low opinion of Flix due to his choice to become a cantina singer. Driven by a desire to meet the refinery's production goals, Flanx authorized deep-core drilling, a practice traditionally forbidden on Drahgor III due to fears of awakening the Karnex Dragons. He dismissed these fears as mere myths, only to be proven wrong when he, Flix, and Kazuda Xiono found themselves under attack by several of these creatures while attempting to fix the drill.
Flanx spent his formative years on the harsh, rocky planet of Drahgor III, where his people operated a fuel refinery that extracted fuel from the planet's depths. He shared a close bond with his cousin, Flix, during their childhood. However, as Flix grew older, he began to view their homeworld as primitive and yearned for a career as a cantina singer. This divergence in aspirations led to a rift between the cousins, culminating in Flix's departure under strained circumstances. Flanx vowed that Flix would eventually return, humbled and regretful.
After Uncle Floog retired, Flanx took over the fuel refinery. He disregarded the Gozzo legends that warned against delving too deep into the planet's core, and initiated deep core drilling operations. These actions disturbed the karnex dragons that resided in the depths of Drahgor III. Flanx considered these legends to be nothing more than superstitions that hindered profit.
The paths of Flanx and Flix were destined to cross again in the aftermath of the Hosnian Cataclysm, an event that ignited the First Order-Resistance War. Following the Battle of Castilon, the Colossus space station fled into the vast expanse of deep space, evading the clutches of the First Order. With the Colossus facing a critical fuel shortage, Flix, accompanied by his partner Orka, Kazuda Xiono, Torra Doza, and CB-23, embarked on a mission to purchase fuel from his flock's refinery. By this point, Flix had settled into life aboard the Colossus, where he managed a repair shop known as the Office of Acquisitions.
Upon their reunion, Flanx greeted Flix with disdain, openly mocking his cousin for abandoning the family business. Flanx proudly announced his leadership of the refinery's operations. He also rejected Flix's plea for fuel, boasting about the profits they were making from deep-core oil drilling. The revelation that Flanx was engaging in deep-core drilling horrified Flix, but Flanx dismissed his concerns as outdated superstitions.
After a tremor seemingly disabled one of the flock's drillers, Kaz managed to persuade Flanx to provide them with fuel in exchange for their assistance in restarting the drill. Flanx agreed to the deal, but insisted that Flix and the others accompany Kaz and him into the depths of Drahgor III.
Flanx and the offworlders made their way down into the depths of Drahgor III using a lift. During the descent, Flanx brushed off Flix's concerns about the karnex dragons as mere superstition, asserting that the planet was barren and lifeless. After Kaz and Torra spotted movement in the fog, Flix halted the lift's descent, correctly suspecting the presence of a karnex dragon. The karnex dragon dislodged some rocks, causing the lift to plummet uncontrollably into the depths of Drahgor III.
During the chaotic descent, Torra and Orka became separated from the rest of the group. Just before the lift carriage crashed into the ground, Flanx and the other passengers managed to jump out. Flix, Flanx, and CB-23 landed on one side of a ridge, while Kaz landed on the opposite side. A deep chasm separated the two groups. While Torra and Orka ascended the shaft to secure a shuttle for rescue, Flanx and the others ventured through the planet's depths in search of the deactivated drill.
As they continued their search for the drill, Flanx and Flix continued to argue. Flanx blamed Flix for causing the crash. Flix insisted that the dragons were responsible for the tremors, while Flanx maintained that the tremors were caused by earthquakes affecting the stabilizers. After some time, the two groups converged on the inactive drill. Kaz reported seeing a dragon, but Flanx refused to believe him. They managed to repair the drill, but its operation attracted the attention of a karnex dragon.
The karnex dragon attacked the site, using its powerful tail to knock over the drill. In the ensuing chaos, Flanx was captured by the dragon, which dragged him back to its lair. Flix, Kaz, and CB-23 pursued the dragon into its cave and successfully rescued Flanx from the clutches of the karnex dragons. The family of karnex dragons pursued them back to the drilling site, where the group prepared to make their stand.
Realizing that the dragons had poor eyesight and were vulnerable to bright lights, Flanx and the others used the blast lights to drive the dragons back into their cave. Torra and Orka arrived in a shuttle, joining the group. Flanx used a drill to bury the karnex dragons under rock, isolating them from their prey. Flanx apologized to Flix for his disbelief and expressed his desire to rekindle their friendship. Flix accepted his apology, and the group returned to the surface.
Upon their return, Flanx convinced the rest of his flock to cease deep core drilling, recognizing that it was disturbing the karnex dragon's natural habitat. Flanx also provided Flix and his friends with enough fuel to fill two giant tanks as a gesture of gratitude for saving his life. Flix and his friends departed for the Colossus on good terms with Flanx and the rest of the flock.
Flanx was a male Gozzo characterized by his black eyes and white feathers. He was an ambitious manager of his family's fuel refinery, driven by a desire to maximize profits through deep core drilling. Flanx and his cousin Flix shared a close bond during their childhood. However, their relationship became strained due to Flix's aspirations of becoming a cantina singer and his opposition to deep-core drilling. Flanx dismissed Flix's dreams and considered his belief in the existence of karnex dragons to be "childish" superstition.
As an adult, Flanx was consumed by his desire to exploit the fuel reserves beneath his family's refinery. His greed led him to drill deeper, disrupting the natural habitat of the Karnex dragons. Ultimately, Flanx was compelled to mend his relationship with his brother Flinx, who saved his life during a mission to restart a disabled drill. This experience forced Flanx to acknowledge the reality of the Karnex dragons and to appreciate his cousin. As a result, Flanx reconciled with Flix, providing him with the fuel that the Colossus desperately needed. He also developed a newfound respect for the deep core as the domain of the karnex dragons and abandoned deep-core drilling.
Flanx made his debut in the Star Wars Resistance episode "From Beneath," where his voice was provided by Paul F. Tompkins. Tompkins recorded his lines for Flanx in the summer of 2018, around the same time he made an appearance as the "toy Yoda" salesman in the 100th episode of The Star Wars Show.
