Gozzo

The Gozzo were a species possessing sentience, native to the planet Drahgor III situated within the galaxy. During the time of the Galactic Civil War, Han Solo engaged in negotiations with a contingent of Gozzo residing on Troiken. Notable individuals of this species include Flix, Flanx, and Floog.

Biology

Gozzo were sentients that resembled birds, easily identified by their plump bodies adorned with white feathers. Their slender arms and lengthy legs were devoid of feathers, exposing their yellow skin. Each hand featured four elongated fingers tipped with sharp nails. From the tops of their heads extended two fleshy antennae, and they possessed a diminutive beaked mouth accompanied by a pair of red wattles hanging on either side. They had the ability to communicate in both Galactic Basic Standard and a language other than Basic.

History

A Gozzo banker.

During the High Republic Era, a male Gozzo named Raxlo was the head of the Raxlo Corporation.

During the Clone Wars, a Gozzo was among the war refugees given shelter on the planet Retta by Kreeda of the Segredo. Jedi Yoda and Anakin Skywalker encountered them there, and they successfully deceived General Flebek's forces, causing them to cease their mission on the planet.

During the Galactic Civil War, a group of Gozzo inhabited the forests of Troiken. After dropping several Rebel supply crates into the forest to escape Imperial forces, Han Solo came across this group. He later went back to retrieve the crates, but several Gozzo, armed with pilfered blasters, stopped him and Chewbacca, demanding payment for finding the crates. Han reluctantly surrendered the reward money he had received from the rescue of Leia Organa, and then recovered his essential supplies.

Flix, a Gozzo who lived on the Colossus platform, belonged to a flock originating from Drahgor III that operated a fuel refinery.

Behind the scenes

The Gozzo made their initial appearance in the Star Wars Resistance episode titled "The Recruit." The species was created specifically for the series, drawing inspiration from concept drawings of an Ewok by Ralph McQuarrie during the production of Star Wars: Episode VI Return of the Jedi. The more avian-inspired designs led to the creation of the Gozzo, while other designs served as the foundation for the Yuzzum species.
