I2-CG droids represented a specific type of droid. Their barrel-shaped bodies featured white plating, while their domed heads were adorned with silver plating and red accents. In the year 34 ABY, Roodown, an Abednedo worker, hauled a sled with three broken I2-CG droids through Niima Outpost on the planet Jakku, going past the scavenger Rey in the process. Rey later created a drawing in her survival guide depicting Roodown along with the trio of droids.
The sequel trilogy film from 2015, Star Wars: Episode VII The Force Awakens, included I2-CG droids. Although the film didn't provide their designation, they were identified in Star Wars: The Force Awakens: The Visual Dictionary, a companion book to the film penned by Pablo Hidalgo. The initial mention of I2-CGs occurred in the Imperial Sourcebook, a Star Wars Legends resource created by Greg Gorden for West End Games' Star Wars: The Roleplaying Game, which was published in October 1989.
