A Grysk soldier who served the Grysk species' military and the Grysk operative "Jixtus" was stationed on the Unknown Regions planet Sunrise around 18 BBY. They were tasked with staying away from the Grysk mines on Sunrise and their workers so that they remained uncounted among Jixtus's forces, allowing the outriders to monitor the mines.
After most Grysk soldiers on Sunrise were killed by the Paccosh species, the two Grysks met with Pathfinder navigator Qilori, an agent of Jixtus. They asked him to tell Jixtus that they were ready to destroy his enemies and bring him "the one" before three Paccosh approached Qilori and the Grysks were forced to hide. Qilori later relayed the outriders' message to Jixtus, who did not know what "the one" referred to. The Grysk outrider wore armor.
The Grysk outrider appeared in the 2021 novel Thrawn Ascendancy: Lesser Evil, the final volume in Timothy Zahn's Ascendancy Trilogy.
