A sister, who was female, belonged to the human engineer named Vharn. Following the Galactic Empire's takeover of their homeworld, the mining planet Sorgal 12, she, Vharn's father, and Vharn were enslaved and forced to work as [miners](/article/miner]; this occurred by 3 ABY. Vharn, absent from the planet at the time of the invasion, eventually became a member of the Rebel Alliance with the goal of liberating his family.
During that year, Vharn devised a scheme to betray the Alliance, planning to provide the Empire with schematics for a deflector shield generator capable of withstanding an orbital bombardment, hoping the Empire would then ransom his captured relatives. While the bounty hunter Beilert Valance was in the process of deliver the engineer to the Rebellion, he questioned Vharn about his reasons for joining the Alliance. Vharn explained to Valance that his family was enslaved by the Empire, and he wished to free them. After the hunter discovered Vharn's treachery, he killed him and gave the Alliance the intel the engineer possessed. Subsequently, Valance requested that half of his compensation be used to secure the release of Vharn's family.
The character of Vharn's sister was referenced in "Two Sides to Every Sortie," a comic story penned by Ethan Sacks and brought to publication by Marvel Comics as a part of the one-shot comic Empire Ascendant 1, which was made available on December 18, 2019.
