Biography

Abron Mar, after capturing Mara Jade

Abron Mar, a male of a green-skinned species, held the rank of lieutenant under the crime lord Takara. He was a regular at a cantina within the Katraasii Spaceport on the planet Katraasii. In 10 ABY, during the year, Takara stole a Global Communications Transponder from his Hutt rival, Ka'Pa. Around the same period, the New Republic, needing supplies, dispatched the Jedi Mara Jade to negotiate a deal with Ka'Pa for those supplies. Ka'Pa used this opportunity to recover his stolen property, assigning Jade the task of retrieving the GCT device from Takara. The Hutt's contacts informed Jade about Mar, identifying him as the key to reaching Takara's stronghold. When Jade arrived on Katraasii, Mar was at his preferred cantina, protected by Gran and Weequay bodyguards. Jade, aiming to avoid provoking Mar into fleeing, located the hangar where Mar's personal R-41 Starchaser was parked and sealed the hangar door.

Jade returned to the cantina to arrest Mar, but the lieutenant escaped while Jade dealt with his henchmen. With his ship unable to depart due to the sealed hangar, Mar chose to flee further into the spaceport with two Weequay, setting a trap for Jade. The Jedi fought through Mar's men and various Galactic Empire field stormtroopers, catching a glimpse of Mar and his Weequay heading through a small speeder bay. Mar closed the bay doors on Jade, but the Jedi used a T-4 troop transport to break through the doors.

She continued her pursuit of Mar, eventually cornering him in a storage area. Mar feigned surrender, causing Jade to lower her guard and be struck by a stun blast from behind. Mar then delivered her to a prison within Takara's stronghold. Nevertheless, Jade ultimately recovered the GCT device.

Personality and traits

Abron Mar enjoyed spending time at a cantina within the Katraasii spaceport. After capturing Mara Jade, Mar voiced his disappointment in her abilities, unimpressed with Ka'Pa's choice of agent. Mar belonged to a species characterized by green skin and three ridges instead of a nose.

Equipment

During the pursuit involving Jade, Mar carried an E-11 blaster rifle and possessed his own R-41 Starchaser. At the time, Mar wore dark clothing featuring red stripes, along with goggles that obscured his eyes.

Behind the scenes

Abron Mar made his debut in the video game Star Wars: Jedi Knight: Mysteries of the Sith, an expansion pack for the earlier Star Wars: Jedi Knight: Dark Forces II. When Mara Jade approaches Abron Mar, a cutscene is activated, resulting in her capture.

It is theoretically possible to eliminate Abron by sniping him with the Stormtrooper rifle equipped with the E-11 electroscope before the cutscene is triggered. A single shot will cause Abron Mar to collapse, but the player will then receive a message indicating that completing the mission is now impossible due to Abron Mar's death.

Terence McGovern provided Mar's voice, which is heard throughout two levels of the game. Mar's character model was also available as a multiplayer avatar. In Mysteries of the Sith, multiplayer personalities were introduced, categorizing character models by profession. Mar was classified as a scout.
