AD-4M functioned as an administrative droid.
Admin units, also known as administrative droids, are a type of droid. One example is seen in the Hall of Imperial Register located on the world of Coruscant. Grand Admiral Rae Sloane journeyed to this planet to uncover details regarding the Galactic Empire's Star Destroyers and Super Star Destroyers and encountered these droids. Furthermore, AD-4M was an administrative droid in service to the Resistance at their base situated on Ajan Kloss. During the High Republic Era, Ty Yorrick was assisted on her assignments by an admin unit. Although she considered it helpful, she did not name the unit, which was actually designated KL-03.
