AD-4M's function was administrative.
Admin units, alternatively referred to as administrative droids, are a type of droid. One such droid was present within the Hall of Imperial Register located on Coruscant. This occurred during Grand Admiral Rae Sloane's visit to the planet for the purpose of gaining insight regarding the Galactic Empire's Star Destroyers and its Super Star Destroyers. Furthermore, AD-4M was an administrative droid in service to the Resistance at their base situated on Ajan Kloss. During the time of the High Republic Era, Ty Yorrick was assisted on her missions by an admin unit. She considered it a helpful tool, although she did not name it. Its true designation was KL-03.
