Aelta

Aelta was a witch of the Human species (a female), residing on the planet of Dathomir during the Galactic Civil War period. After Allaya and Kara'Teel, two of Augwynne Djo's biological daughters, died, and Barukka and Gethzerion joined the Nightsisters sect of the dark side, the leader of the Singing Mountain Clan adopted her. Gethzerion, upon discovering that her mother had welcomed Aelta into their family and elevated her to the status of a Sister within the Singing Mountain Clan, flew into a rage. Consequently, she dispatched one of her assassins to eliminate the Dathomiri Witch.

Biography

Adoption by Augwynne Djo

During the era of the Galactic Civil War, a Human witch (female) named Aelta made her home on the world of Dathomir, situated in the Outer Rim Territories. Elsewhere on Dathomir lived Augwynne Djo, the matriarch of the Singing Mountain Clan of Dathomiri Witches, and mother to Gethzerion, Barukka, Kara'Teel, and Allaya. However, Gethzerion and Barukka betrayed the Singing Mountain Clan and embraced the dark side, becoming Nightsisters. By the time following the Battle of Yavin in 0 BBY, Djo's other two daughters had died. Allaya was killed in combat, while Kara'Teel, the youngest, perished while defending her mother. Following the loss of these two daughters, Augwynne Djo made the decision to adopt Aelta. Concurrently, Gethzerion sought refuge within Dathomir's Nightsister Stronghold.

Gethzerion's Dagger

Learning that her mother had taken Aelta into the family and made her a Sister in the Singing Mountain Clan, Gethzerion was consumed by fury. She then commanded her assassin to kill the adopted daughter, who also held the title of Arch Witch. Gethzerion's personal assassin was a spacer who had become a slave. Having proven themselves to the Nightsisters, Gethzerion freed the assassin and gave them the title of Dagger. After one of Gethzerion's scouts located Sister Aelta, the Dagger went to eliminate her in the Dathomir wilderness. Aelta was surprised when she saw Gethzerion's assassin approaching, as they did not appear to be a Nightsister. Nevertheless, Aelta recognized that the individual had been sent by Gethzerion, and she prepared to defend herself. Despite Aelta's efforts using her melee combat skills, the assassin ultimately killed her. This brought great joy to Gethzerion, who reveled in her suffering. Gethzerion hoped that Aelta's death would serve as a warning to the Singing Mountain Clan, making it clear that Augwynne Djo should never try to replace her daughters again.

Aelta's Legacy

The death of Aelta, however, was not the end of Augwynne Djo's family. After Aelta's death, Gethzerion discovered that Djo had adopted another daughter, a former friend of Gethzerion's named Chastina. To make matters worse, Djo had even given Chastina a necklace that Gethzerion believed belonged to her. Enraged by this perceived insult, Gethzerion ordered her Dagger to tear out Chastina's heart and retrieve her necklace. In the end, Chastina met a similar fate as Aelta, effectively ending Augwynne Djo's adopted family.

Personality and traits

Aelta possessed blue skin, black hair, and blue eyes of a specific colored hue. Described by Gethzerion as a "harlot," Aelta was a skilled fighter with expertise in melee combat. She demonstrated these skills against Gethzerion's assassin, but it was not enough to prevent her untimely demise.

Equipment

Being proficient in melee combat, Aelta had various bladed weapons, including a standard sword and a curved sword designed for single handed use. She also carried a power hammer and a curved sword meant to be wielded with two hands. During her final moments, Aelta wore a gray Singing Mountain Clan mask with violet accents, along with a blue Dawn Wrap featuring a black corset, red collar, and violet highlights. Her clothing also included a light pink Shredder Skirt with a silver medallion, and blue boots. Additionally, she carried a large magenta backpack.

Behind the scenes

Sister Aelta was a non-player character featured in the video game Star Wars Galaxies: An Empire Divided from 2003, a massively multiplayer online role-playing game created by Sony Online Entertainment and published by LucasArts. The game was shut down on December 15, 2011. She was part of the third quest given by Gethzerion, an NPC at the Nightsister Stronghold on Dathomir. In this quest, players were tasked by Gethzerion to find and kill Aelta. While players could choose not to kill Aelta or avoid the Nightsister quests, this article assumes complete game completion. Aelta was removed from the game when the Witches of Dathomir theme park was updated in Game Update 18.2 on November 4, 2010, and Game Update 19 on December 14, 2010.
