Sword of Ajunta Pall
During the Hundred-Year Darkness, the Sith Lord Ajunta Pall wielded the sword of Ajunta Pall. Upon his death, it was interred alongside him within his tomb located on Korriban.
Ajunta Pall's reputation for power grew both during his life and after his death. He achieved this, in part, through the use of his double-bladed sword. While some believed Ajunta's power stemmed from the weapon, Pall himself considered it the source of his corruption.
Description
The sword's blade was described as having a black, ebony hue, and featured notches along its length, creating a cruel and jagged appearance. It was also noted for its unusually cool temperature to the touch. A closer inspection revealed a small insignia, a dark circle, etched onto the hilt. The inscription "I am that which grips the heart in fright, hearkens night and silences the light" was present on the sword.
History
During the Jedi Civil War, the redeemed Sith Lord Revan ventured into Pall's tomb with the intention of acquiring the sword. His aim was to gain prestige in the eyes of Uthar Wynn, the master of the nearby Sith Academy (although Revan's true objective in these actions was to locate the Star Map).
Within Ajunta's sarcophagus, Revan discovered the double-bladed sword along with two ordinary swords. Following a conversation with the spirit of the long-deceased Sith Lord, Revan correctly identified the genuine sword. Subsequently, Revan guided Pall back to the light side, bringing peace to his tormented soul. However, before departing, Pall cautioned Revan about the corruption inherent in the sword, advising him to relinquish it to avoid a similar fate.
As Revan and his companions exited the tomb, they were confronted by another aspiring Sith, Shaardan. Shaardan's plan was to allow someone else to navigate the dangerous traps, then seize the sword for himself. Revan refused to surrender the sword, leading to an attack by Shaardan. The brief conflict resulted in Shaardan's death. Revan then returned the blade to Uthar Wynn, and upon recounting the events of the skirmish with his rival, he greatly increased his prestige in the eyes of the Sith Master.
Five years later, when Meetra Surik arrived on Korriban, Kreia recounted Revan's story to Surik, noting that the fate of the ancient artifact after Revan's possession remained unknown.
Legacy
Approximately four millennia later, during the era of the Galactic Civil War, Rothax, an Imperial Staff Sergeant, rewarded an Imperial soldier for multiple victories against the Rebel Alliance with a Sith sword rumored to be a very close copy of Ajunta Pall's sword.
Behind the scenes
While the canonical storyline depicts Revan killing Shaardan and presenting the sword to Master Wynn, the player has several alternative choices regarding the sword and its imitations. The player can give one of the fake swords to Shaardan, who joyfully flees without verifying its authenticity, only to be reprimanded at the Academy by Wynn, and ultimately Force choked to death. Alternatively, the player can give the real sword to Shaardan, sacrificing prestige. Finally, the player can choose not to surrender the sword to Wynn at all (as it is possible to gain enough prestige without giving up any items they find), allowing them or a crew member to wield it throughout the remainder of the game.
Despite the sword's significant role in Ajunta Pall's initial appearance in Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic, subsequent artwork depicting Ajunta Pall in sources published after Knights of the Old Republic portrays him with a lightsaber, specifically a single-bladed one.
