Akaan'gaan
Akaan'gaan represented a specific idea within the ancient traditions of Mandalorian society. In the translation from the Mandalorian language known as Mando'a to Basic, this word was commonly understood to mean "the quest for combat." The declaration of akaan'gaan signified the intention of a person or group to actively pursue battles wherever possible.
During the time of the Cold War that existed between the Galactic Republic and the Sith Empire, the Mandalorian warrior Mavrix Varad spearheaded a secession of his clan from the Empire, with which the Mandalorian people had previously been allied. By declaring akaan'gaan, Clan Varad absconded with a Republic Valor-class cruiser named the Allusis, launching attacks against various Republic and Imperial objectives until they were ultimately neutralized while in orbit around Fondor.
Behind the scenes
The notion of akaan'gaan was initially introduced in Star Wars: The Old Republic, a massively multiplayer online role-playing game created by BioWare, which saw its release on December 20, 2011. As of now, this remains the only instance where this concept has been featured.
