During the period of the Clone Wars, Scipio, found within the Albarrio system, functioned as the central base of operations for the InterGalactic Banking Clan, leading to a battle fought there between the Galactic Republic and the Confederacy of Independent Systems.

The Albarrio sector's initial mention occurred in Riders of the Maelstrom, a Star Wars Legends supplementary material authored by Ray Winninger for Star Wars: The Roleplaying Game produced by West End Games. In The Essential Atlas, a Legends reference work, the sector's location was identified as being in the Outer Rim Territories; however, the reference book Ultimate Star Wars confirmed the Albarrio sector as canon and incorrectly situated it within the Core Worlds region. This placement was due to an editorial error, rather than a deliberate relocation of the sector.
