Alchenaut, a terrestrial moon, existed within the Alchenaut system of the Alchenaut sector. This celestial body was situated in the Expansion Region of the Western Reaches. On this moon, a thriving ecosystem served as a habitat for a variety of non-sentient herbivorous species, accompanied by at least one predatory creature. One notable example among the herbivores were the o'cerrys, who engaged in cooperative behavior with thousands of other herbivores by alerting them to the presence of approaching predators.
Sometime around 990 BBY, Bowspritz, a Jedi Biologist, made a visit to Alchenaut. During this visit, Bowspritz conducted research on the moon's diverse animal life and bestowed the name upon the o'cerrys. Impressed by the collaborative nature of these creatures, Bowspritz featured the o'cerrys, along with a reference to Alchenaut, in the "Galactic Bestiary" section of The Jedi Path: A Manual for Students of the Force, a guidebook intended for Jedi trainees.
Daniel Wallace conceived of Alchenaut for inclusion in the 2010 reference work, The Jedi Path: A Manual for Students of the Force. The Online Companion on StarWars.com for the 2009 reference book The Essential Atlas located the Alchenaut system, and consequently, the moon Alchenaut, within grid square L-16.
