Alfreda Goot was a mercenary of the Togorian species (a female), who transitioned into the profession of a bounty hunter after failing to complete the rigorous covert elite police training program led by Fenn Shysa and Tobbi Dala on Mandalore. This occurred during the Galactic Empire's rule.

Following the Clone Wars, during the Imperial occupation of Mandalore, Mandalorian Protectors Fenn Shysa and Tobbi Dala, who were operating outside the law, were secretly recruited by the Mandalorian populace to establish a highly skilled police force for their planet. Alfreda Goot, a participant in this training, did not succeed and instead became a mercenary. However, during her time in the program, she managed to obtain a set of supercommando armor. Known for her ruthless nature, Goot found employment as a bounty hunter under both Darth Vader of the Galactic Empire and the minor crime boss Slag Flats, despite possessing only average mercenary abilities.
After the Battle of Yavin, Alfreda Goot sought to enhance her reputation by attempting to claim the substantial reward offered by Jabba the Hutt for the capture of Han Solo. Believing it would be simpler than delivering Solo to the Hutt on Tatooine through direct confrontation, Goot devised a strategy to use Princess Leia Organa, a Rebel leader and Han's ally, to draw Solo to the Dockside Cafe in Mos Eisley under the guise of a race. Goot prearranged for eight aliens, including a Twi'lek named Karlo, to be present and provide support upon her arrival.
While Solo and Organa were on vacation on Ord Mantell, Alfreda Goot disguised herself by trimming her whiskers and concealing her eyes behind optical sun-shields. She purchased a starship and four weeks worth of supplies from the Twi'lek supplier Cabet Lom. Subsequently, she boarded the Millennium Falcon, Solo's heavily modified freighter, with the intention of abducting Organa and stealing the princess' signet. Returning to Lom, Goot instructed his droid to deliver her challenge to Solo—a race to the Dockside Cafe, using Leia's signet as collateral—while he was playing fan-tan at Ord Mantell's Fifteen Moons Casino. With the Falcon in pursuit, Goot departed for Tatooine.
Initially, Han Solo was under the impression that Goot was actually Leia, attempting to prove her skills were comparable to his. However, he became involved in an Imperial dispute over the fighter's cockpit and the unconscious body of Darth Vader, which he had unknowingly taken aboard the Falcon as cargo. Threatening Vader's life with an explosive, Solo compelled Captain [Sodarra], an Imperial loyalist, to assist him. He then arrived at the Dockside Cafe to confront Goot. Solo's renowned luck proved to be too much for Goot's limited abilities, and he managed to shoot her in the chest, resulting in her death and the rescue of the Princess.
Alfreda Goot was a Togorian female characterized by a petite build and pronounced cheekbones. After the Battle of Yavin, she had long, flame-red hair and green fur, styled into small braids. She also had ring-shaped piercings in her right ear.
Following her failure in the Mandalorian police program, Goot took on work as a low-level mercenary. She had aspirations of building a reputation for herself, viewing Han Solo's bounty as a means to achieve this. Despite her average skills, Goot gained notoriety as a merciless killer.

Alfreda Goot donned a suit of assembled Mandalorian supercommando armor. This blaster resistant armor was gray, crafted from duralloy, and used a micropower plant to enhance the wearer's strength. The armor's helmet featured a rangefinder and translator device. The forearm armor contained four retractable blades, poisoned with somniject, in each gauntlet. In addition to these weapons, Goot carried a pistol and used a black leather strap for restraining prisoners. The Togorian also wore a utility belt that held gas capsules containing somniject antidote. During her race with Han Solo, Goot piloted a space yacht with a unique design, resembling a pear-shaped fruit with a broad base and a narrow front.
Alfreda Goot made her debut in Scoundrel's Luck, a solitaire adventure from 1990 by West End Games, written by Troy Denning and illustrated by Francis Mao. Her background was further elaborated in The History of the Mandalorians, an article in Star Wars Insider by Abel G. Peña, which included artwork of Goot by Joe Corroney.
Scoundrel's Luck features numerous branching storylines with varying outcomes. Given that The History of the Mandalorians confirms that Goot lured Solo to the Dockside Cafe but ultimately failed in her hunt, this article assumes that the canonical path involves Solo killing Goot and rescuing Leia. In one possible scenario, Solo crashes on Mon Torri, damaging the Falcon's hyperdrive actuation diode. Goot provides Solo with a replacement, allowing him to continue to Tatooine and fall into her trap.
A discrepancy exists between Goot's description in Scoundrel's Luck, which mentions red hair and green eyes, and her depiction in The History of the Mandalorians, which shows green fur and orange eyes.
Alfreda Goot is among several potential candidates for the "bounty hunter on Ord Mantell" referenced by Han Solo in Star Wars: Episode V The Empire Strikes Back. Other possibilities include Skorr, Cypher Bos, and a fan-eared bounty hunter.
